The short answer
For a suit worn once or twice a week, dry clean it every 4 to 6 wears — or sooner if it is stained or smells. Suits worn occasionally only need cleaning before they are stored.
Between cleans
Hang it on a shaped wooden hanger, brush it with a clothes brush after wearing, and give it a day off between wears so the fibres recover. Steam out light creases.
Signs it is time
Visible marks, a shine on the seat or elbows, lingering odours, or a jacket that no longer hangs straight.
Clean both pieces together
Always clean the jacket and trousers together so they age and fade at the same rate.
